Moto Guzzi V7 Special 750 'Lama Nera' by Ruote Fiere

Vintage Guzzis, or dare I say all Guzzis, seem to be picking up some steam and general interest again here in the states. Or that could just be me. Italian-based Ruote Fiere first caught my eye when EXIF shared their Sazuka Endurance Racer, which I instantly loved. Ruote Fiere's 1970 Moto Guzzi V7 Special 750 'Lama Nera' equally stole my heart.

Green frame goodness :: Sabotage Cycles' Imola 860 GT

To say that Paul Smart is an icon in the motorcycling is an understatement. Smart is likely most famous for winning the Imola 200 on April 23rd, 1972. At 29 years old, riding Ducati's new 750 racer, based on the GT750 roadster he took the win and helped cement Ducati's place in the race world.

Bullitt 821 :: Paint Update

Our Bullitt 821 build stalled out for a little while over the summer but we're back on track and working hard to wrap it up soon. We had dropped our tins with painter buddy, Ronnie Simmons, and went back and forth for some time with the overall design.

Custom Triumph Thruxton R :: Through the Lens

Buddy of The Bullitt, Steve West, recently shared a photo with us of a clean Triumph Thruxton R and had us drooling instantly. When we pressed him for more, he had plenty to share. After thumbing through the lot, we felt they were too good not to share here.

Triumph cafe racer concepts by Ziggy Moto

Ziggy Moto is at it again, with more delectable Triumph concepts to get our imaginations running. There's something about the big inverted front forks and chopped rears that makes these things look so visually appealing to us. Sure, there'll be plenty of people quick to comment that these aren't the most practical, but that's not the point is it?

For Sale :: Motodemic's Scrambler Ducati Streettracker

Motodemic has been making a name for itself with handsome headlight conversion kits for a wide range of bikes. We've been oogling their kit for our Monster 821 build for some time and are constantly impressed with the quality bikes they put out. Often, the bikes they share photos of are customer bikes but Brad and the Motodemic crew built a tidy Ducati Scrambler of their own, and now it can be yours!

Jab Launcher :: Rough Crafts' cafe racer Scrambler Ducati

Ducati's relaunched Scrambler became an instant best-seller when it hit the market in 2015. Pulling on the heart strings of everyone who lusted after the first-gen Ducati Scrambler first debuting in 1962, the revived Ducati Scrambler ticked all the right boxes. An 803cc air-cooled desmo engine had a solid balance of power, agility and most importantly, affordability to draw people en mass. While the new retro Scrambler Ducati looks the business its stock trim, the platform begs for customization. We've covered a handful of killer custom Scrambler Ducatis already, Winston Yeh of Rough Crafts has certainly built a drool worthy rendition of his own.

Lost photos :: Bullitt OG

We were going back through photos of the Bullitt OG the other day and came across a photo set that never saw the light of day. Initially confused as to why, we then remembered this was right before the sale of the bike, and right before we met Richard Le, who admitedly took far better photos of the old girl.

Bullitt 821 :: Quick Update

It's been way too long since we've provided any update on the Bullitt 821. We've been busy working away and have a lot to share soon. Paint is nearly done and we've got some more mods in the works.

Interview :: Steve West of Silver Piston

Steve West is one of those larger than life characters. Full of energy and always up for some good old fashioned fun and mischief. His personality is contagious and the more you speak with the dude, the more you want to just keep him talking...which isn't too hard to do. For those unfamiliar with the name Steve West, or his business Silver Piston, wake up! Steve left his corporate life behind to pursue his artistic passions which translated into his company, Silver Piston, where he makes "kickass jewelry for people who kick ass".

Born Free 9 :: Silverado, CA

It's been a number of years since I made it to Born Free and first impression was that it's definitely grown over the years but I also remembered it being more, well, free. I've got two little moto-loving groms and after watching MotoGP that morning, they were pissed that I was going to leave them behind and ride out to a local moto event. So, I loaded the car and drove to a motorcycle rally. Yep. I drove.

Simple and clean :: Ducati 900SS cafe racer

There’s just something about a Ducati 900SS, isn’t there? Already a pretty attractive bike in its stock form, the 900SS definitely lends itself to be modified. Some of the most notable 900SS builds might be Walt Siegl’s Leggero series café racers. Another recent favorite of ours was Deep Creek Cycles ‘Distino’ build. When Bullitt-reader, J. B. Mcclure III, submitted his 1993 900SS to us, we were instantly intrigued.

Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber by Moto Strada

There's no shortage of custom Guzzi's out there, with many of them being vintage variations. Moto Guzzi has a new model that seems to have not yet been fully exploited by the customizing world yet; the V9. The 750cc V7 is a far more common platform but the 850cc V9 range consisting of two models, the Bobber and the Roamer, seems to be a great platform for custom jobs.

Ducati 900SS Distinto by Deep Creek Cycleworks

Deep Creek Cycleworks, a speedshop located in Diepenbeek, Belgium, recently shared images of their newest creation that really caught our attention. Not sure if it's the interesting color palette chosen - not your typical Ducati's paint - or if it was simply the track-ready vibe, but we like it!

Motorcycle Concepts :: Barbara Custom Motorcycles

When it comes to conceptualizing a new build, there are many different ways to approach the initial phase and I find it truly interesting to see how each builder approaches his chosen canvas. Some builders visualize their work strictly in their minds, allowing the process to take shape organically. Some keep it old school with pen and paper and while other are able to digitize their work. All have their own merits, but being able to digitize a build allows you to see the final product before picking up the old angle grinder.

1975 Moto Guzzi 850T 'Supernaturale' by Untitled Motorcycles

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is the place to be to see some amazing vintage bikes and some high quality builds. Friend of The Bullitt, Hugo Eccles of Untitled Motorycles San Francisco had let us know he was working on a custom Guzzi to be debuted at the Quail but had only teased us with a tank shot a while back. We knew he was up to something good, and had to be patient to see the final product. Fortunately for all of us, the wait is over.

Bullitt SP :: Hyper in the Hills

After a break up, we've probably all been guilty of looking up an old ex from time to time. Well, we're no different and were looking at old pics of our beloved Bullitt SP. While flipping through the archives, we came across some photos that don't appear to have ever made it to the light of day. Sometimes with exes, that's a good thing, but in this case she's still got all her clothes on...

Ducati Monster 821 cafe racer concepts by Ziggy Moto

Ziggy, of Ziggy Moto, has done it again with some mesmerizing mock-ups, this time of a Monster 821 on an extreme café diet. Not sure about you, but we absolutely love it! We had been sketching out some slim rear subframe/seat ideas for our Bullitt 821 but couldn't quite make our napkin sketches look like these works of art.

The Legends of Speed Pins by Return of the Cafe Racers

Surely there has been an influential motorcyclist in your life that has made a big impact. Maybe it was your old man, or your neighbor who taught you how to dirtbike. While those are subjective, there are some legends that have changed the sport of motorcycling as we know it. Paying homage to some of these moto heros, the crew at Return of the Cafe Racers worked with fellow moto enthusiast and deisgner, Pedro Oyarbide with an idea they had been kicking around for a while. The concept was to create a series of jacket pins that depicted some of their personal favorites from motorcycling history. With Pedro on board, the 'Legends of Speed' jacket pin series was born.

New Bullitt build :: the Bullitt 821

So I was thinking it was time for an update on the Bullitt 821 then started going through the archives, only to realize we've never made a single post about the newest member to the family. I know we've shared a handful of photos to social but I was sure there was at least an intro post here. Well, without further ado, allow me to introduce you all formally to the Bullitt 821.

For Sale :: Ducati 860 Cafe Racer by Bryan Heidt

We all dream of building our very own proper custom yet many of us don't possess the skills, resources and budget to see a true custom to life. It really takes a combination of all the above, along with hours upon hours of blood, sweat and more blood to pull of many of the finished products we see more and more frequently these days. If you can't do it yourself, you can always commission one from your favorite builder, assuming he has the time and you have the budget. Every now and then, one of those builds you drooled over on BikeEXIF might actually go up for sale. Well, today is one of those days.

'Candylegs the third' CB750 racer

While racing technology and styling often trickles down into on-road vehicles, there's no substitute for the real thing. Race bikes will always be cooler than street bikes. Fact. With race bikes, function (almost) always prevails, and everything down to the safety wire becomes its own form of sexy - if you're into that sort of thing.

Harley Sportster Cafe Racer by Get Lowered Cycles

We haven't featured too many Harleys here on The Bullitt but a few quick favorites come to mind; Icon1000's Iron Lung, Deus Ex Machina's American, or Noise Cycle's '52 Panhead. We figured it'd been long enough since we featured one, so when the guys at Get Lowered Cycles submitted their cafe'd Sportster to us, we were happy to share.

Ducati Hyper Scrambler by Untitled Motorcycles

If you haven't seen the Hyper Scrambler by must have seen it by now, right? Even if you don't regularly read "moto stuff", this bike has appeared on some pretty mainstream stages like Jay Leno's Garage, Playboy, Designboom and GQ Italia to name a few.

Ducati Pandora by Young Guns Speed Shop

We've been starting at the Monster 821 in our garage lately and keep coming back to Young Gun Speed Shop's Ducati Pandora for inspiration. Utilizing the most amped up version in the Monster family - the Monster 1200 R - as their base, the Swiss-based Young Guns built what they are calling a
hybrid between a GP-bike and a contemporary café racer.

Moto Guzzi cafe racers by Holographic Hammer

We've been big fans of Sylvain Berneron, better known under the guise of Holographic Hammer, for years. Over the years, we've shared some of his Ducati and Triumph cafe racer illustrations. Lately, we've been toying around with doing a Guzzi build and low and behold, Holographic Hammer has been teasing us with some killer mock ups.

Cafe Racer Dream's CRD#61 BMW R 100 RS Cafe Racer

Madrid-based Cafe Racer Dreams definitely likes their BMW builds, but this particular one happens to be special; this one is actually the personal ride of CRD Founder and CEO, Pedro Garcia. In typical CRD fashion, the 1977 BMW R 100 RS better know as CRD#61 or #thebikeoflove, has been stripped down its bare essentials.

Modern Dustbin MV Agusta Racer 'Ballistic Trident' by Rough Crafts

Custom builder Winston Yeh of Rough Crafts has been making waves with his unique and often brutally-styled builds. His latest build, and possibly most visually striking, dubbed the ‘Ballistic Trident’ definitely has the Rough Crafts flair we’ve come to expect.

KTM Street tracker by Engineered to Slide

We've been following the evolution of Nigel Petrie's 2008 KTM 250 EXC-F for years now. Petrie, an Ozzie auto drifter and two wheel enthusiast, has taken this bike from an enduro, to Supermoto, to cafe racer, and now to the pretty slick little tracker you see here today.

Ducati 860 Cafe Racer by Bryan Heidt

Bryan Heidt is no stranger to the custom world - he's metal fabricator with a background in Industrial Design - and works with Bryan Fuller at Fuller Hot Rods. His beautiful custom 1975 Ducati 860 square case named Cavallo Nero (Italian for 'dark horse') was actually Fuller's bike but with no immediate plans for it and a barrage of impending projects coming in, the bike sat in the shop taunting Heidt. When Bryan shared his story with us, it became abundantly clear that a lot of blood, sweat and late nights went into this build and he certainly had a lot to say about the work he put in. In cases like that, why not let the builder himself tell you the story as it is?

Moto Guzzi V9 X-Track Scrambler

Moto Guzzi had a handsome display at this year’s recent EICMA show in Milan. There, the manufacturer from Mandello del Lario was debuting a new V7 III model, in a handful of variations like their V7 III ‘Anniversario’ or their new V7 III Racer, a cafe racer inspired variation now equipped with Öhlins rear suspension. I’m definitely a fan of the V7 range and naturally assumed that would be my favorite bike announced by Guzzi, however there was a different model that stole my heart. To the right of their main stage, there was a group of customized Guzzis hanging out, and there happened to be one particular V9 that was given a scrambler treatment that I just couldn’t stop starting at it. Currently, the “X-Track” is just a concept at this point, but all I could think about was that I had to build one!

The Race of Gentlemen :: David Carlo Photography

For lovers of vintage motorcycles, vintage cars, and the old-school machismo that comes with the territory, The Race of Gentlemen, or simply “TROG”, is an absolute gold mind. As you could see from our recent post by Erik Juntas, style and authenticity in this event is preserved to the utmost detail. With period correctness being mandatory in all elements of participant's machines and gear, impressive images aren’t too hard to come by. We’ve seen plenty of great images from the recent event in Pismo Beach, California but when we saw the striking shot above by David Carlo of TROG participant Josh Kohn, we knew we needed to see more!

Supermoto dreaming :: Jan R's KTM 450 EXC

We could stop drooling when we stumbled across Jan R's KTM 450 EXC Supermotard online. This thing looks hot, and it looks like trouble! Wishing we could get our hands on it and take it down to SoCal Supermoto to do some hooning. Anyone else in?

Custom Triumph Bonneville by Perfekt Speed Shop

Dario Callegher, owner of a Miami-based Perfekt Speed Shop, recently sent us photos of his latest creation; a rather striking Triumph Bonneville turned custom Scrambler. Starting it's life as a 2005 Bonnie, Callegher stripped it down, and transformed it based on a friend's direction, who was inspired by the “Bonneville Heuer" a TAG Heuer Special Edition Bonneville from 2009.

The Race of Gentlemen :: Pismo Beach, CA

You might look at this photo set and think what you're seeing is some old 'beach racing' shots from the 1940's and 50's, but you'd be wrong. What you see here was recently shot, by photographer Erik Jutras, taken in Pismo Beach, CA at The Race of Gentlemen (aka TROG). The Race of Gentlemen is hosted by the Oiler's Car Club and has increased in popularity since it's inaugural run in 2012 with this year being the first year to see a west coast event. TROG is an invitational event and they are very strict about everything being "period correct", and it shows.

Three Martini Lunch :: Custom Triumph Thruxton by Icon 1000

We've been big fans of Icon 1000's custom builds, and featured their similar but different Iron Lung build in the past, but their latest custom Thruxton really has us drooling. Maybe we have a soft spot for Triumphs, maybe it's the way they were able march to the beat of their own drum with this one... Whatever it is, we like it.

Ducati 900SS Cafe Racer by CC Racing Garage

I had the pleasure of seeing this little stunner in person recently in Misano at WDW2016; Ducati's World Ducati Week gathering that happens every other year. The bike was super clean in person and was clearly liked by more than just me, as it won the Ducati Garage Contest, a contest where everyone at WDW could vote on their favorite custom on display.

Harley and the Davidsons - 3-part miniseries

Regardless of whether or not you're a 'Harley fan', if you're a fan of motorcycling in general, you should have some appreciation for the history of our two-wheeled sport. Discovery Channel has been promoting a new series that looks pretty awesome if you ask us!
